RC the Dukes 39 – 5 REL

RC the Dukes have moved to the top of the Ereklasse after their solid win at Limietlaan.

This game was re-arranged from round 2 after the tragic death of a REL player in a cycling accident had forced the postponement.

Alex Vieland, captain of REL had this to say after the game “Dukes managed to put us on our own half from the first minute. They hunted aggressive on the ball so we could not get under the pressure for the first 30 minutes. Our defense was good at that time, so we could handle the pressure for a long time.”

“Everyone knows that when you’re playing backwards it will be a tough game. Our scrums were often, to easy put back, what was resulting in no or to difficult balls for our backline.”

“Unfortunately, when we had a turnover ball there was not enough passion to follow up and put pressure on the Dukes straight away.”

“Despite this loss, I am convinced that tomorrow during training we’ll find the switch to put on a good performance on Saturday against AAC.”

the Dukes now face the difficult trip to fourth placed DIOK this weekend, knowing that they need to keep the momentum going. REL host AAC, which should see them return to the winners circle.
